Abstract

The US National Science Foundation (NSF) is the primary funder of fundamental research in science and engineering at universities in the U.S. (in non health-related areas), but scientific expertise and funding is increasingly globalized. This talk will discuss this changing environment and NSF’s priorities and strategies for addressing global challenges that require collaborative, transformative science. The talk will focus specifically on NSF’s collaborations in Hong Kong and China, and on what makes a successful partnership.
